2016 RNC Information

IMPORTANT UPATES REGARDING THE 2016 RUPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION:

OFFICIAL PARADE ROUTE- The “official parade route,” or protest route, will begin at W. 20th & Lorain Avenue. To clarify, the parades will actually begin at the apron of the Lorain Carnegie Bridge, not in the neighborhood. As of today the City has issued a total of four (4) permits for the use of the Official Parade Route and there are no pending applications. Protesters are being informed to either ride RTA or have someone drop them off at the beginning of the parade route as parking in the neighborhood is limited.

SCHEDULE FOR POSSIBLE PARADES-  Monday, 2pm-5pm; Tuesday - Thursday, 8:30am-1:30pm
Up to 5,000 protesters could potentially attend each parade, but there is no way to determine how many will actually attend.

ACCESS TO DOWNTOWN VIA LORAIN CARNEGIE BRIDGE- The bridge will be closed to automobile and bike traffic during the RNC. Anyone can walk across the bridge on the sidewalks. The only people who will be allowed to walk in the street on the bridge are protesters who must have an approved parade permit. The grassy area at the end of the bridge at Ontario St. (being called “The Triangle”)  will be open to the public for anyone who wishes to watch the event.

BUSINESSES OPEN TO THE PUBLIC DURING THE RNC-  As you may know, some businesses along W. 25th Street have been rented out for private events for the duration of the RNC.

Here are some of the businesses who will be open to the public during RNC: ABC Tavern, Bar Cento, Bier Markt, Flying Fig, Great Lakes Brewing Company, Koffie Café, Market Avenue Wine Bar, Market Garden Brewery, Nano Brew, Nate’s Deli, and Orale! Contemporary Mexican Cuisine.
